“Something fun. Something for the summertime. Something for the girls to get ready and party to.” – Saweetie (2020)
As promised, the west coast rapper released her summer playlist featuring a string of upcoming artists. The collections of tracks combines the other artists’ songs featuring Saweetie and a couple of her own original tunes.
So of course we had to rank each song by which ones you can shake your body to the fastest.
1.) Sweat Check
An ode to her famous phrase after a gym workout, “sweat check!” And the number one song on the playlist to get jiggy to.
2.) Talkin’ Bout with Loui
That TikTok song is back! Except, Saweetie adds her verse and you can still rock-rock to the beat.
3.) Risky ft. Drakeo The Ruler
She starts your ears off with a nice bass bounce and gives us a fun visual for it, too. Definitely a pre-game track to play as you get ready for the real party.
4.) See Saw with Kendra Jae
A vibe reminiscent to one of her previous records, “Back to the Streets” ft. Jhene Aiko. Saweetie raps across the slow and fast grind beat in a response to ex-boyfriend’s, Quavo, infamous tweet post-breakup. She claims Quavo is a narcissist after he cheated, threatened, and insulted her.
5.) Back Seat ft. Lourdiz
An ecstasy beat, sensual lyrics, and definitely a pool party vibe. Or, a track to slow down the club after a slew of fast-paced songs. This tune brings the calm. But keeps you slow and fast grinding while Saweetie raps about what’s exactly done in the back seat.
6.) Pretty & Rich
A real rap song! You wait for the beat to drop with this one. This is the record you rap along and bop to with your girls. Saweetie reminds us she’s a fashion icon to-be, but still a rapper.
7.) Baby Mama Coochie with Bbyafricka
Recently, Saweetie mentioned this artist in an interview with Issa Rae. It would only be right she features her record. The west coast sound really shines through this track. A slowed, bit off-beat, style of rapping. The sound production has a hint of “Pretty Bitch Freestyle”. Definitely a head-bopping track, and maybe a dance jerk or two. But not enough to cut a rug.
Saweetie delivers a good preview to an even better album on the way. Pretty Summer Playlist can be streamed on every music-sharing platform. But if you aren’t subscribed to any, the content queen has you covered on her YouTube channel.
